Orientation Leader at Mount Allison University Orientation
Class of 2022
Hometown: Islamabad, Pakistan
I have become more independent and made so many everlasting friendships. I have learned the value of living in a small community and learning new things along the way. Mount A has given me many opportunities to open my wings and fly high to reach my goals. I have learned so much about different countries, cultures and traditions because of the diversity of my friends group. I have gotten a chance to familiarize myself with the indigenous cultures and practices as well. I think it's amazing how I have become a people person in such a short span of time.
My favourite memory is living in Campbell hall during my first year. It was so nice to have so many amazing people around me all the time. It was a pleasure to take part in events including the Cancun Campbell, lip sync, Halifax trip and so many more.
Come here with an open mind and don't hesitate to step out of your comfort zone. Ask a lot of questions and take advantage of all the resources you get. Stay connected and make a lot of friends. Also, bring a small souvenir from your home country which would always keep you connected from your roots (Wish I had done this). Don't forget to pack for winters as they can get really harsh here. Most importantly, whatever you do, make sure you have a lot of fun and make everlasting memories.
I love going for walks in the waterfowl park and the dikes near the broken bridge during sunsets. My most favourite activity is to go thrifting almost every week and buying antique decoration pieces. I also love going to the farmer's market every Saturday to enjoy delicious home cooked meals and support the local businesses. Milkshakes from Mel's and food from Goya's are to die for!
