Orientation Leader at Mount Allison University Orientation
Class of 2021
Hometown: Nova Scotia, Canada
Minor: Biology and Biochemistry (Double Minor)
I've actually changed a lot since coming to Mount A. I remember on the day of my commencement, the President of the university explained that this is a chance to start over and become someone different. I really took that to heart, and spent most of Orientation getting out of my comfort zone talking to new people and trying to make friends. I was a particularly quiet person in high school, and wanted to make a change. It was hard, but I finally found my group of people, and now I'm living with them! I found what I was passionate about, and I was able to explore a bunch of different things and find new interests!
Go to Cranewood Cafe to have a nice iced coffee, and a BLT on a sesame seed bagel (you HAVE to try it, it's absolutely delicious), do my coursework and listen to music! Exploring Sackville is one of my favourite things to do, walking around visiting different local shops is so much fun! One of my favourites is Hounds of Vintage! It's a terrific curated thrift shop and the owner is super nice!
it's incredibly cheesy to say but don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone! I really had to push myself every day to talk to new people, and just started by giving compliments to everyone I could! Explore campus as much as you can, make sure to take alone time, and don't be afraid to figure out who you are as a person, or to change yourself as you know it. Get involved! It'll help you figure out what you're passionate about, and maybe you'll discover something new! This is a chance to change anything you want about yourself, and you can become a completely new person!
All of my favourite Mount A memories are usually hanging out with my friends! I'll never forget chatting in meal hall with my friends on Sunday mornings after a fun night out!
