...Grab some friends and go to Jack's for a study break. After a long day of studying, Jack's garlic fingers are the best remedy for stress. Don't worry, if garlic fingers aren't your thing, there are so many different restaurants to try, Sackville has everything from coffee to pasta! You definitely won't go hungry!
...Be confident! It can be so intimidating coming into university, but it's so important to believe in yourself and not compare yourself to others. Everyone adjusts differently, and you should always remind yourself of that. University is hard and it is a huge change, don't be discouraged if it takes you a little longer to get the hang of it. It certainly doesn't mean that you're not cut out for it. Take your time to find a program you love, and clubs/societies that you love. Don't be afraid to jump at every opportunity, you'll end up meeting the best people and having a great university experience!
...Mount A is such a close-knit community that makes everyone feel welcome. Professors actually take the time to learn your name (even if it takes them a little while), so make sure you're not late to class, because they will know who you are! There is something for everyone at Mount A, and if there is something missing, they are always open to new ideas and suggestions. No matter where you are on campus, you're guaranteed to see a familiar face and be greeted with a wave. Although it can be a big adjustment, after a while, you will feel right at home.
...Intramural sports! I participated in intramural soccer, basketball, and volleyball in my second year. They are such a great way to stay active and make new friends. In my first year I was too nervous to join, though in my second year I had a blast! Whether you play for a house team or an off-campus team, it is such a great experience! It is so much fun to be part of a team and build connections with other students. Even if you have absolutely no sports experience, don't be afraid to give intramurals a try, all skill levels are welcomed and everyone is so encouraging!
